Kia Carens Clavis EV | India’s first midsize electric MPV set for launch tomorrow

Kia India is gearing up to launch the Kia Carens Clavis electric vehicle (EV), its first all-electric midsize multipurpose vehicle (MPV), with official pricing to be announced tomorrow.

This model is based on the recently-updated Carens internal combustion engine (ICE) version but brings several electric-specific upgrades and a bold new design.

Kia Carens Clavis EV is India’s first midsize electric MPV
The Kia Carens Clavis electric vehicle
could be priced judiciously.

With a claimed range of up to 490 km and advanced tech features, the Clavis EV is set to make a strong entry into the growing EV market in India.

Stylish exterior with EV touches

The Carens Clavis EV features several design updates to distinguish it from its ICE sibling.

The front sports a full-width LED light bar, flanked by triple-pod LED headlamps, giving it a futuristic look.

The charging port is smartly integrated into the front nose, while dual-tone alloy wheels and fog lamps above the skid plate add to the modern styling.

Tech-rich, spacious cabin

Inside, the Clavis EV adopts Kia’s latest interior theme, featuring a two-spoke steering wheel, dual digital displays for the instrument cluster as well as infotainment, and ambient lighting.

The car also includes wireless charging, a raised centre console, and roof-integrated AC vents for rear passengers.

The seven-seat layout comes standard, while a six-seat configuration may be offered later for those looking for a more premium feel.

One standout feature is the vehicle-to-load (V2L) system, which allows users to power external electronic devices using the car’s battery — ideal for outdoor use or emergencies.

Battery options and range

Kia has confirmed an IDC-claimed range of up to 490 km on a full charge but hasn’t revealed full powertrain specs yet.

However, it’s expected to share battery options with the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, likely offering 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery packs.

The Carens Clavis EV will also feature Kia’s i-Pedal regenerative braking system, which allows single-pedal driving. This helps improve efficiency and makes city driving easier.

Pricing and segment advantage

The Clavis EV is expected to be priced from around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom) (Rs 1.5 million), making it an affordable choice in the electric vehicle space.

As India’s first midsize electric MPV, it fills a unique gap in the market, offering a mix of practicality, comfort, and green mobility.

Pre-bookings are expected to begin shortly after the official launch.

What to expect from Kia Carens Clavis EV

Here’s what makes the Clavis EV an exciting option:

Up to 490 km range on a single charge

Seven-seater layout with tech-rich interior

V2L support to power gadgets and appliances

EV-specific styling with LED lights and charging flap

What’s next from Kia?

Kia is expanding its EV lineup in India. After the Carens Clavis EV, the Kia Syros EV is expected to launch in 2026.

This upcoming compact SUV will target budget-conscious buyers and compete with models like the Tata Punch EV.

E-Vroooom’s views

The Kia electric vehicle is smart and feature packed, aimed at modern Indian families.

With a commendable range (though not outrightly impressive), advanced features, and competitive pricing, the Kia Carens Clavis EV, India’s first MPV, is set to make electric vehicle driving more accessible and practical in the midsize segment.
