The Harrier EV is set to attract the attention of buyers with its bold design, advanced features, and impressive performance capabilities.
Sleek design with familiar features
The Tata Harrier EV retains most of the design DNA of its diesel-powered counterpart, with subtle yet impactful changes that signal its electric powertrain.
The front end showcases vertically-stacked LED headlights below the sleek daily running lamps (DRLs), connected by a full-width light bar for a modern touch.
From the side, the swollen wheel arches and the rising window line, which merge seamlessly into the blacked-out D-pillar for a floating roof effect, showcase the Harrier’s distinctive silhouette.
The rear section is equally familiar, featuring a connected light bar and vertical indicator housing on the bumper, ensuring a striking, cohesive look.
However, the most significant difference is found in the EV-specific details.
The Harrier EV comes with a sealed-off upper grille and a front bumper designed with a chrome-trimmed air dam that houses the radar sensor — a reminder of the Curvv EV’s design elements.
It will also feature aerodynamically efficient “serrated turbine blade wheels” likely ranging from 17 to 19 inches.
Interior tech and features
Inside, the Tata Harrier EV offers an updated experience while retaining the best aspects of the standard Harrier. Expect a sleek two-tone dashboard, touch-based HVAC controls and signature floating touchscreen.
The digital instrument cluster, four-spoke steering wheel, and rotary dial for terrain modes are all carried over, ensuring continuity for current Harrier owners.
The EV also comes equipped with a panoramic sunroof, electronic parking brake, and a new suite of connected car features.
Tata has emphasised that the Harrier EV will receive over-the-air (OTA) software updates, ensuring it remains up-to-date with the latest tech innovations.
Harrier EV | Electrified for adventure
While the Harrier EV isn’t a “born electric” model, it is built on the modified Omega architecture that also underpins the Harrier internal combustion engine (ICE) version.
This modified platform, called the Acti.ev (Gen 2) architecture, has been extensively re-engineered to accommodate an electric powertrain, offering a solid foundation for the new EV.
The Harrier EV will be available with a dual-motor set up, providing enhanced performance and traction.
With a rear axle-mounted electric motor, the Harrier EV promises a peak torque of 500Nm, resulting in an impressive acceleration and power delivery.
Range and battery: Harrier built for long journeys
Though Tata has yet to reveal the official battery specifications for the Harrier EV, it’s expected to offer a battery capacity larger than the 55kWh unit found in the Curvv EV.
The Harrier EV could come with a real-world driving range of over 500 km. This would reduce range anxiety greatly.
Pricing of Harrier EV
Pricing of the Tata Harrier EV is expected to be in the range of Rs 25-30 lakh (ex-showroom) (Rs 2-3 million), making it an attractive option for customers looking for an electric SUV with a premium feel, solid performance, and long-range capabilities.
