Aceman EV India launch | Top 5 things to know about Mini’s upcoming electric SUV

Mini has been quite active in the Indian market in 2025 and is coming up with an electric vehicle (EV) soon.

The British luxury car brand recently launched the Mini Cooper Convertible in December, following the introduction of the performance-focused Mini Countryman JCW in October.

Now, fresh reports suggest that Mini is preparing its next big launch for India, and this time it will be an electric car.

The upcoming model is expected to be the Mini Aceman EV, which could make its India debut sometime in 2026.

Globally, the Mini Aceman is between the Cooper and the Countryman in size and positioning, and is sold exclusively as an EV. In Mini’s EV lineup, it is placed below the Countryman Electric.

As buzz around the Mini Aceman EV India launch continues to grow, here are the top five key facts about this electric car.

Mini Aceman EV likely to come as CBU in India

The Mini Aceman EV is expected to be launched in India as a completely-built unit (CBU). This means the car will be imported directly rather than being assembled locally.

While CBU models usually attract higher prices due to import duties, the Aceman EV may benefit from the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed recently.

Under this agreement, import duties on UK-made luxury cars are set to reduce significantly — from over 100 per cent to around 10 per cent by the fifth year — under a quota-based system.

This could help Mini price the Aceman EV more competitively than earlier imported models.

What the Aceman EV means for Indian market

Electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular in India, especially in major cities.

With better charging infrastructure and growing awareness, premium EVs are seeing strong interest among buyers.

The Mini Aceman EV is expected to target urban customers who want a compact, stylish, and premium electric crossover.

Its unique design, strong brand image, and all-electric powertrain could make it appealing to buyers looking for something different from mainstream electric SUVs.

Aceman EV design: Bold and rugged styling

In terms of design, the Mini Aceman looks sharper and more rugged than the regular Mini Cooper.

It features angular headlamps, squared wheel arches, and rectangular LED tail-lamps, giving it a bold road presence.

The EV also gets body cladding all around, chunky bumpers, and roof rails, adding to its crossover appeal.

Inside, the cabin follows Mini’s modern design language.

The biggest highlight is the large circular OLED infotainment display placed at the centre of the dashboard, which controls most of the car’s functions.

Bigger than the Mini Cooper hatchback

The Mini Aceman EV is clearly larger than the Mini Cooper hatchback. It measures 4,076 mm in length, 1,754 mm in width, and 1,515 mm in height.

Compared to the Cooper, the Aceman is longer, wider, and taller, offering a more spacious cabin.

The wheelbase stands at 2,606 mm, which is also more than the Mini Cooper.

This should translate into better rear-seat comfort and improved practicality for everyday use.

Mini Aceman EV range, performance and likely pricing

Globally, the Mini Aceman EV is offered with two battery options. The smaller 38.5 kWh battery has a claimed range of up to 309 km, producing 181 bhp and 290 Nm of torque.

The larger 49.2 kWh battery promises up to 405 km of range on a single charge and delivers 215 bhp with 330 Nm of torque.

There is also a high-performance John Cooper Works (JCW) version, which uses the larger battery and produces 254 bhp.

This variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km per hour in just 6.4 seconds.

The Mini Aceman EV — if it heads to India — could be priced from Rs 55 lakh (Rs 5.5 million) to Rs 60 lakh (Rs 6 million).
