Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the all-electric Tata Sierra EV in India in early 2026.
Riding on the strong momentum created by the newly-introduced internal combustion engine (ICE)-powered Sierra, the electric version is expected to attract significant attention from electric vehicle (EV) buyers.

The petrol and diesel Sierra have already received an overwhelming response, logging 70,000 confirmed bookings within 24 hours, along with over 1.35 lakh configuration registrations.
This strong start sets the stage for the Sierra EV to become a key player in Tata’s growing electric vehicle portfolio.
Sierra EV spotted testing ahead of launch
Recent spy shots confirm that the Tata Sierra EV is currently undergoing extensive road testing in India.
Although the test vehicles are heavily camouflaged, they reveal several important details about the SUV’s overall shape and proportions.
Tata Motors has also teased the electric Sierra earlier, giving a clearer idea of how the EV version will differ slightly from its ICE sibling while retaining the iconic Sierra identity.
Exterior design: Familiar yet EV-specific
The Tata Sierra EV will closely follow the design language of the ICE model but with a few EV-specific touches.
At the front, the electric Sierra is expected to feature a closed-off grille, replacing the conventional one used on combustion models.
A slim LED daytime running light bar stretches across the width of the front, positioned just below the bonnet.
Split headlamps, a darkened bumper section and a silver skid plate add to its rugged SUV appeal.
Upright proportions, strong character lines and the signature Sierra window design ensure visual continuity with the original concept.
Flush door handles, squared wheel arches and sporty alloy wheels are also expected.
Both the ICE and EV versions are likely to share the same wheel design.
At the rear, EV-specific badging, a full-width LED light bar, a boxy tailgate and a roof-mounted spoiler should complete the look.
Sierra interior and features: Tech-focused cabin
Inside, the Tata Sierra EV is expected to mirror the cabin layout of the ICE-powered Sierra.
The highlight will be a triple-screen setup, consisting of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a central touchscreen infotainment system and a passenger-side display.
The dashboard design will focus on layered textures, soft-touch materials and ambient lighting to create a premium feel.
Expected features include a new steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, auto-dimming inside rear-view mirrors (IRVMs), adjustable headrests and premium upholstery.
A large panoramic glass roof is also likely to be offered, enhancing cabin space and comfort.
Battery, range and charging details
Under the hood, the Tata Sierra EV is expected to share its electric architecture with the upcoming Harrier EV. Tata Motors is likely to offer two battery pack options, catering to different driving needs.
The larger battery pack is expected to deliver a real-world driving range of over 500 km on a single charge.
The SUV will support DC fast charging, allowing quick top-ups on highways.
Bi-directional charging technology is also expected, enabling vehicle-to-load (V2L) and other advanced use cases.
