After its impressive debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) giant VinFast is bringing its, arguably most exciting, pint-sized powerhouse to India — the VinFast VF3, at affordable prices.
With a projected, aggressive price point, this tiny beast — the VF3 — is aiming straight for the MG Comet and Tata Tiago EV markets and could potentially launch in early 2026.

Here is everything you need to know about this upcoming car, billed as a game-changer.
Bold design, small size, huge persona
The Vinfast VF3 isn’t just another electric bubble car. It looks like a rugged SUV that was shrunk.
Its boxy silhouette, high ground clearance, and chunky plastic wheel arches give it an air of urban toughness.
Design highlights: It features a closed front grille with the brand’s prominent V-logo in chrome, flanked by sharp LED headlamps.
Dimensions and stance: Measuring around 3,190 mm in length, it is compact, yet rides on 16-inch alloy wheels, promising better handling over broken city roads.
Configuration: It is a two-door, four-seater, with a tall, upright stance designed for maximum headroom.
But one thing that seems to make it a tad ugly — the size of the wheels is too big but it could serve as an advantage, such as better grip on the roads.
Powertrain, range and charging
VinFast is targeting a practical, urban-focused range for the VF3. It is expected to come with a rear-mounted electric motor and a 18.64 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
Expected range: Nearly 200-215 km (on a single charge, based on NEDC cycle), which is perfect for weekly office commutes.
Charging: The VF3 supports fast charging, capable of going from 10 per cent to 70 per cent in just 36 minutes.
Performance: It delivers about 43.5 PS of power and 110 Nm of torque, designed for quick zipping through city traffic.
Interiors and smart features
Inside, the VF3 keeps it simple, minimalist and functional. It boasts of a modern cabin designed for the tech-savvy urbanite.
Infotainment: A 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay acts as the central hub, likely combining the instrument cluster functions into one screen.
Comfort and convenience: It features a two-spoke steering wheel, automatic climate control, cruise control and connected car technology.
Practicality: The second-row seats are fully foldable, expanding the boot space from a small 36 litres to a desirable 285 litres.
Variants, safety, and price in india
The VF3 is expected to be offered in two variants, likely named Eco and Plus, offering flexibility in pricing and features.
Regarding safety, while detailed NCAP ratings are not yet known, the car is expected to come with multiple airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors.
Probable launch date: Early 2026 (following the launch of larger siblings VF6 and VF7 in 2025).
Expected Price: Rs 7.5-10 lakh (Rs 750,000-1 million, ex-showroom).
Rivals: The primary rival is the MG Comet EV, but the VF3 will also compete against the Tata Tiago EV and upcoming compact models from Renault and Nissan.

Final thoughts on VinFast small car | VF3 a game changer?
With VinFast setting up its manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, local assembly could keep prices very competitive.
If the ‘Battery-as-a-Service’ (BaaS) scheme is introduced, the initial buying cost could drop significantly, making the VinFast VF3 EV one of the most exciting electric cars for young urban buyers in India.
