Skoda is gearing up to unveil its smallest and most affordable electric SUV yet — the Skoda Epiq electric vehicle (EV).
Scheduled for a global debut in Zurich on May 19, 2026, this compact electric crossover is already creating a buzz for its impressive range, fast charging capability, and practical design.

Built on Volkswagen’s advanced MEB+ platform, the Epiq EV aims to redefine what buyers can expect from an entry-level EV, especially if it makes its way into India.
A bold new ‘modern solid’ design language
With the Epiq, Skoda introduces its all-new ‘Modern Solid’ design philosophy, moving away from soft curves to a more rugged and purposeful look.
Despite measuring just 4.1 metres in length, the SUV has a strong road presence, thanks to its upright stance and muscular detailing.
The front fascia is dominated by a distinctive ‘Tech Deck’ face, flanked by T-shaped LED daytime running lights that double up as turn indicators.
Cube-shaped projector headlamps add to the futuristic appeal
Black body cladding, roof rails, sculpted bumpers, and a sporty roof spoiler enhance its crossover credentials, making it look larger and tougher than its compact footprint suggests.
Minimalist interior with maximum practicality
Inside, the Skoda Epiq EV embraces a clean, tech-forward cabin layout inspired by Volkswagen’s upcoming ID lineup.
The dashboard features a large 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired with a compact 5.3-inch digital driver display.
Skoda retains physical controls for climate settings via intuitive piano-key buttons — striking a balance between modern tech and usability.
Space efficiency is a major highlight. Skoda claims the Epiq can comfortably seat five passengers while offering a segment-leading 475-litre boot space — an impressive figure for a compact SUV.
The cabin also includes 26 litres of additional storage and signature ‘Simply Clever’ features like an umbrella integrated into the driver’s door.
Sustainability is another focus, with eco-friendly materials used across trims such as Studio, Loft, and Suite.
Battery, range, and fast charging
Underpinning the Epiq is Volkswagen Group’s MEB+ (MEB Entry) platform, which supports multiple battery configurations.
The SUV is expected to offer battery packs ranging from 34kWh to 54kWh, delivering a claimed maximum range of up to 425 km on a single charge.
Charging is where the Epiq stands out. With a peak charging rate of 133kW, it can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in just 23 minutes — making it one of the fastest-charging EVs in its segment.
Performance will vary across trims, with power outputs ranging from 114 bhp to 208 bhp.
For enthusiasts, a performance-oriented vRS variant is also expected, delivering around 223 bhp and sprinting from 0 to 100 km an hour in under 7 seconds.
Expected price in India and launch timeline
Globally, the Skoda Epiq is expected to be priced around £25,000 (approximately Rs 26 lakh or Rs 2.6 million), similar to the combustion-engine Kamiq.
If Skoda aggressively localises production under its India 2.0 strategy, the Epiq could be priced between Rs 21 lakh (Rs 2.1 million) and Rs 26 lakh (Rs 2.6 million) in India.
While the global reveal is set for May 2026, an India launch is likely by mid-to-late 2027, depending on localisation plans and market readiness.
Competition: Can the Epiq make it big?
The compact electric SUV segment in India is hotting up rapidly. The Epiq will face stiff competition from established and upcoming players.
Models like the Tata Nexon EV and the upcoming Curvv EV already enjoy strong market presence.
However, the Epiq could stand out with its larger boot space and faster charging.
E-Vroooom’s views
The Skoda Epiq EV has all the ingredients to shake up the affordable electric SUV segment.
With its blend of practicality, performance and if priced right and localised effectively, the Epiq EV may just become one of the most exciting EV launches in India in the coming years.
