VinFast accelerates India push with new EV launches, expanding showrooms and charging network by 2026

Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) maker VinFast is stepping hard on the accelerator in India with more launches, expanding showrooms as well as charging network by 2026.

With an ambitious roadmap that includes launching two new electric vehicles every year, scaling up retail presence, and strengthening its charging ecosystem, the company is positioning itself as a serious contender in India’s fast-growing EV market.

VinFast accelerates India push with new EV launches, expanding showrooms and charging network by 2026
VinFast recently launched its VF MPV 7 EV in India.

A bold product strategy: Two EV launches every year

To fully utilise its manufacturing capabilities and build a diverse portfolio, VinFast plans to introduce two new EV models every year.

This aggressive launch cadence is designed to cater to different customer segments and keep pace with rising EV demand in India.

The strategy already seems to be taking shape. After introducing the VF 6 and VF 7 SUVs, the company has now unveiled the VF MPV 7, its third offering in the country.

This steady pipeline of products signals a long-term commitment to the Indian market.

VF MPV 7: Targeting families and premium buyers

The newly launched VF MPV 7 is priced at Rs 24.49 lakh (ex-showroom) (Rs 2.45 million) and is aimed at the personal vehicle segment.

With India witnessing growing demand for electric multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs), VinFast expects strong interest from families looking for spacious, eco-friendly mobility solutions.

Interestingly, the company isn’t stopping there. A fleet-focused variant called Limo Green, built on the same platform, is already in production.

This version is expected to be priced lower and tailored for commercial use, opening up opportunities in ride-hailing and corporate fleets.

Manufacturing strength: Thoothukudi facility

VinFast’s expansion is backed by its large manufacturing base in Thoothukudi (Tamil Nadu).

The facility spans around 400 acres and features globally standardised production lines with an initial capacity of 50,000 EVs annually.

This capacity ensures the company can support its aggressive launch plans while scaling production based on market demand.

Sales momentum building up

VinFast’s early performance in India shows promising traction. After launching the VF 6 and VF 7 in September 2025, the company sold 826 units in 2025, according to Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (Fada) data.

Momentum has significantly improved in 2026, with over 1,500 units already sold, indicating growing consumer acceptance of the brand.

Expanding retail footprint across India

A strong retail network is central to VinFast’s India strategy. The company has rapidly grown from 35 showrooms at the end of 2025 to 50 outlets currently.

It now aims to reach 75 showrooms nationwide by the end of 2026.

The expansion will not be limited to metro cities. VinFast plans to penetrate Tier-II and III markets, tapping into rising EV demand beyond urban centres.

Service network: A hybrid approach

Understanding that after-sales service is critical for EV adoption, VinFast is building a hybrid service network.

This includes:

Authorised dealership workshops

Third-party service partnerships

By combining these, the company aims to ensure accessibility even in regions without dedicated dealer workshops.

The target is ambitious — over 230 workshops across India by 2026.

Charging ecosystem: Building confidence in EV adoption

Charging infrastructure remains a key barrier for EV buyers, and VinFast is addressing this head-on. Its V-Green charging network already includes around 300 charging stations across India.

Additionally, the company has partnered Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to install EV chargers at fuel stations.

Charging facilities are also being integrated into VinFast showrooms and service workshops, creating a comprehensive ecosystem for customers.

Entry into electric two-wheelers

In a move that could significantly broaden its reach, VinFast is also preparing to enter the electric two-wheeler segment in India during the second half of 2026.

The company plans to establish a separate distribution network for this category, signalling a focused approach to capturing multiple EV segments.

The road ahead

With consistent product launches, growing infrastructure, and rising sales, the company is laying the groundwork to become a major EV player in the country.

So, VinFast’s India strategy is clear — expand aggressively, diversify offerings, and build a complete EV ecosystem.
