Hon Hai Technology Group, better known as Foxconn, a Taiwanese technology giant, is now building a new identity — one that extends well beyond smartphones, computers and consumer electronics.
At the Taipei 360° Mobility Show 2026 recently, Foxconn showcased its growing capabilities in electric vehicles (EVs), autonomous driving, robotics and digital technologies.
This underlines its ambition to become a major technology partner for the global automotive industry.

From iPhones to intelligent vehicles
Foxconn is not looking to become another mass-market carmaker.
Instead, its strategy is firmly focused on the B2B (business-to-business) automotive market, where it aims to provide global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with everything from individual electronic components to complete vehicle solutions.
“For Foxconn, our dialogue is primarily with OEM companies. We are strictly a B2B enterprise providing highly tailored solutions for our clients,” a Foxconn spokesperson said.
That flexibility is central to Foxconn’s Contract Design and Manufacturing Service (CDMS) model.
Automakers can choose the level of support they need — from vehicle design and manufacturing to individual modules, battery technologies and even after-sales service.
“Everything depends entirely on what the client requires,” the spokesperson said, highlighting Foxconn’s ability to tailor its role to each automotive partner.
Why EVs fit Foxconn’s technology DNA
The shift towards software-defined vehicles is creating an opportunity that plays directly into Foxconn’s decades of expertise in information and communications technology (ICT).
Modern EVs rely heavily on electronics, computing power, connectivity and software.
Foxconn believes its experience in Cloud networking, computing and smart consumer electronics gives it an edge in integrating these technologies into vehicles.
Its open EV platforms combine sophisticated electrical/electronic architecture (EEA) with advanced autonomous-driving technologies and x-by-wire systems.
This allows electronic systems and vehicle hardware to work together more efficiently.
“Our main focus is the EV sector because the future dictates that electronic components will account for a significantly higher percentage than in traditional vehicles,” the spokesperson said.
A growing EV portfolio
Foxconn is also developing its own range of electric vehicles to demonstrate what its technology platforms can deliver.
The portfolio includes the Model C SUV, designed with an emphasis on aerodynamics; the Model E luxury sedan, created in collaboration with Pininfarina; the Model T urban electric bus; and the Model V electric pickup truck.
The line-up also features the Model B urban crossover, Model N electric logistics van and the newly-conceptualised Model D lifestyle utility vehicle.
Rather than simply showcasing individual vehicles, the portfolio demonstrates Foxconn’s ability to develop platforms that can serve different segments of the emerging electric mobility market.
Building the automotive technology partner of tomorrow
Foxconn’s EV push is also closely linked to the global drive towards environmental, social and governance (ESG) and zero-emission transportation.
Governments and automakers are increasingly shifting towards electrification, creating demand for scalable EV tech and manufacturing capabilities.
For Foxconn, this represents an opportunity to transfer its manufacturing and technology strengths into a new industry.
