Stellantis to launch Leapmotor EVs in India

India’s electric vehicle (EV) market is about to get a new global player with automotive giant Stellantis preparing to introduce the Chinese EV brand Leapmotor in India, bringing three new EVs across different segments.

If everything goes as planned, Indian buyers could soon see a compact city EV, a premium SUV, and another modern electric crossover entering the market.

Here’s a closer look at what Leapmotor’s India entry could mean for EV buyers.

A new EV brand backed by Stellantis

Stellantis, the multinational automotive group that owns brands like Jeep, Citroen, and Maserati, is expanding its electric vehicle strategy in India.

The company has partnered with Chinese EV manufacturer Leapmotor and plans to launch the brand in multiple global markets, including India.

Leapmotor was founded in 2015 in Hangzhou, China, and has rapidly expanded its presence in international markets.

In 2025 alone, the company sold nearly 596,555 vehicles globally, highlighting its growing influence in the EV industry.

In India, Leapmotor vehicles will likely be introduced through the Leapmotor International joint venture, which handles the brand’s operations outside China.

The goal is to target tech-savvy buyers looking for feature-rich electric cars with modern design and competitive pricing.

Three Leapmotor EVs could launch in India

Leapmotor currently offers three key models globally, and all of them are being considered for the Indian market.

Leapmotor T03 – Compact city EV

The Leapmotor T03 is a small electric hatchback designed mainly for urban commuting. Its compact size makes it ideal for crowded cities and tight parking spaces.

Globally, the T03 comes with a battery pack of around 37.3 kWh and offers a range of roughly 265 km (165 miles) (WLTP).

The hatchback focuses on practicality but still packs modern features such as connected tech and driver assistance systems in international versions.

In India, this EV could compete with affordable electric cars like the Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet.

Leapmotor C10 – Premium electric SUV

At the other end of the spectrum is the Leapmotor C10, a mid-size electric SUV aimed at buyers looking for performance and premium features.

The C10 comes with a 69 kWh battery pack and produces around 231 hp and 320 Nm of torque, delivering an estimated 420 km (260 miles) WLTP range.

With its modern styling, flush door handles, LED lighting, and minimalist interior design, the C10 could rival EV SUVs such as the BYD Atto 3, MG ZS EV, and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV in India.

Leapmotor B10 – Compact electric SUV

The third model expected for India is the Leapmotor B10, a compact electric SUV positioned between the T03 hatchback and the C10 flagship SUV.

This model is designed to deliver strong range, modern tech, and advanced driver assistance features.

In global markets, the B10 offers battery options capable of delivering over 500 km (311 miles) range (CLTC) and comes with advanced sensors and LiDAR-based driver assistance technology in higher trims.

This SUV could compete with popular mid-sized EV crossovers in India once it arrives.

Expected pricing and competition

While official prices have not been announced yet, industry estimates suggest the Leapmotor T03 could start at around Rs 8 lakh (Rs 800,000), making it an affordable EV option.

The larger C10 SUV could be priced roughly between Rs 13 lakh and Rs 18 lakh (Rs 1.3 million-Rs 1.8 million) (ex-showroom) depending on the variant.

If priced aggressively, Leapmotor could become a serious competitor to existing electric car makers in India, including Tata Motors, MG Motor, and BYD.

What this means for India’s EV market

India’s EV segment is expanding quickly, and global manufacturers are racing to capture market share.

With Stellantis backing the brand and multiple EVs planned across segments, Leapmotor could add serious competition in both affordable and premium electric car categories.

For buyers, that means more choices, better technology, and potentially lower prices as the EV battle heats up.

If the launch goes ahead as expected, Stellantis launch of Leapmotor’s three EVs could make them one of the newest and most interesting electric car brands to watch in India’s EV space.
