New Honda compact EV and more | Which Japan Mobility Show 2025 premieres could come to India?

Honda Motor Co. is gearing up for a big display at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, taking place in the last week of October, and some of the vehicles showcased could head to India.

The company has confirmed four global premieres along with several production-ready vehicles and future mobility concepts.

Honda new compact EVs could head to India soon.

From cars and motorcycles to electric mountain bikes and even space technology, Honda is making a bold statement with its “Power of Dreams” philosophy.

For Indian buyers, the big question is: which of these new models are likely to make their way to India?

Let’s take a closer look.

The New Honda compact EV – India’s big hope

The most talked-about unveiling will be the Honda Compact EV Prototype.

Developed as a practical, fun-to-drive small electric car, this model is currently undergoing road tests not just in Japan, but also in the UK and other Asian markets.

This testing strategy hints that Honda is targeting global markets during launch, including India.

With growing demand for affordable electric cars and the central government pushing EV adoption, the compact EV could fit well in India’s urban mobility segment.

If launched here, it would compete with upcoming compact EVs from Tata, Mahindra, and Hyundai, making it a serious player in the affordable EV category.

Honda 0 Series Prototype SUV | A future global model

Honda will also debut its 0 Series Prototype SUV, which promises strong practicality and a global EV appeal.

While Honda has not officially confirmed India for this model, SUVs remain the fastest-growing segment in the country.

If localised, this electric SUV could be positioned as a premium offering in India in the coming years.

Honda electric motorcycle concept — Could It reach India?

Two-wheeler enthusiasts can look forward to Honda’s electric motorcycle concept model, which will showcase new design language and advanced technology.

While Honda has not revealed production timelines, India is already a huge market for two-wheelers, including electric bikes and scooters.

With growing competition from Ola Electric, Ather, and Bajaj, Honda’s entry into the Indian electric two-wheeler space is only a matter of time.

This concept could very well inspire a future India-specific EV motorcycle.

Honda e-MTB Prototype — Niche but unlikely for India

Honda’s production-ready e-MTB (electric mountain bike), developed from the 2023 concept, will also debut at the show.

Built for premium adventure riders, this model is unlikely to come to India immediately as demand for high-end e-bikes is still very limited here.

Recently-launched models that could influence India

Honda will also display recently launched products such as:

Honda Prelude (Hybrid Sports Car): A performance model just introduced in Japan. This is more of a halo product and unlikely to be launched in India anytime soon.

Honda N-ONE e: (Mini EV): A compact urban EV with clean design and electric performance. While it perfectly suits Japanese city roads, its size might limit its potential in India.

Expanding Honda’s motorcycle lineup

Honda will also highlight the CB1000F and CB1000F SE, new additions to the CB series.

While these are powerful road sports motorcycles, their premium pricing makes them more of a niche product for India.

What India can expect

For India, the Honda Compact EV Prototype is the most promising reveal from the Japan Mobility Show 2025.

With road testing already happening in Asia and Honda’s focus on expanding its EV presence, this car could soon become Honda’s first serious mass-market EV in India.

The electric motorcycle concept also holds potential, considering India’s booming EV two-wheeler market.

SUVs and high-end motorcycles may follow later, but the immediate spotlight is on the compact EV — possibly Honda’s next big move for India.
